STEM learning in the comfort of your own home. This is an online multimedia and coding basics course that will prepare your student for esports and technology based courses in junior and high school. It is a great way to introduce your student to broadcast production streaming and game creation through coding and scripting. Esports is being added to all school campuses across the nation. Many schools do not understand how to apply the content. Game Crossing has been successful with kids in esports since 2015. In this course, students will be introduced to live streaming and game content creation principles and fundamentals. Students are taught proper esports online etiquette and professionalism to prepare them to engage with live audiences. Students will be introduced to the industry and beginner-friendly software

Game Crossing has proven to successfully mentor students in avoiding obstacles that amateur individuals experience without proper training.

Students ages 12-16 will engage online during this course.

Course Content

  • Introduction to Beta Testing

  • Introduction to Digital Citizenship

Course Goals

  • Students will understand the fundamentals of creating engaging content

  • Students will complete course at an Intermediate or Advanced knowledge of using multiple content creating platform at one time

  • Students will build engaging games with structure using Roblox

  • Students will understand basic coding in Python and Lua Scripting

  • Students will learn about the importance of protecting themselves online and what to expect from online engagement in the future

Requirements

*Chromebooks are not compatible with this course*

  • PC or Laptop with mouse (students with laptops can utilize any WIFI available to them)

    Minimum PC requirements

  • Windows-based PC (64-bit) with mouse or equivalent input device

  • Hardware GPU acceleration*

  • DirectX 10-compatible Graphics Cards and above

  • 2GB RAM minimum (4GB RAM recommended)

  • 953MB of available hard drive space; more during installation

  • 1280x768 display size or better

  • Webcam

  • WiFi Internet or LAN Hard Lined Connection to a modem or router

  • Twitch Account - students age 12 will need to have parents open an account

Game Crossing also offers custom computer building courses for families wanting to build their personal computer versus buying pre built store bought. Custom building is recommended over pre built computers. Knowing what you have inside your PC has advantages with performance and peace of mind.

This course will not exceed 10 students - we like to keep our groups small so each student receives a quality experience.

Course Start Date: June 16, 2025

Course Schedule: Monday - Thursday

Course times: 4:00pm-5:30pm (subject to change)

The duration of each class is about 1 hour and 30 minutes (may not exceed 2 hours. The instructor sometimes can stay longer for additional assistance)

Class sizes are purposely small so your child will be able to comfortably engage with the instructor during the course.
